Quick answer: Yes. Headout is a legitimate ticketing and experiences company founded in 2014, headquartered in New York with offices in Dubai and Bengaluru, operating in around 100 cities with 24/7 support. Its strengths are last-minute tickets, shows and a clean curated app. The thing to read before booking is the cancellation policy: Headout’s terms say a booking cannot be changed or cancelled with a refund unless the listing says otherwise, and refunds are initiated only after the supplier approves. That is stricter than Viator or GetYourGuide, not a scam.

What Headout Is
A curated marketplace: rather than list everything, Headout selects experiences per city — observation decks, museums, shows, cruises, day trips — and presents them with strong photography and short descriptions. It is an intermediary: your contract is with the local supplier, with Headout handling payment, delivery and support.

How Your Money Is Protected
You pay Headout by card or wallet; tickets are delivered to the app and email, usually instantly. If a listing allows cancellation and you cancel in time, Headout initiates the refund within about seven days of receiving the amount from the supplier, to your original payment method or as Headout Credits (non-transferable, not exchangeable for cash). If the supplier cancels, you are refunded.
Common Complaints
Refund refused on a non-cancellable ticket; refund taking longer than expected because supplier approval is needed; credits offered instead of cash; confusion over meeting points. All are policy or process issues rather than evidence of fraud, and all are avoidable by reading the listing’s cancellation line and meeting-point details.
How to Book Safely
Use the official app or headout.com. Read the cancellation line and choose flexible products if your plans might change. Save tickets offline. Note the meeting point and supplier contact. Prefer products with substantial recent reviews.
Is Viator Better for This?
For last-minute tickets and shows in New York, Dubai and other big cities, Headout is quick and often has a promo code. For guided tours, day trips, anything outside major cities, or whenever you want a 24-hour free-cancellation default and deeper reviews (the New York tours above each carry thousands), Viator is the safer platform.
