Quick answer: On most GetYourGuide products you get a full refund if you cancel more than 24 hours before the start time (in the activity’s local time). Cancel later, or don’t show, and there is no refund. Some products — many attraction tickets, events, some multi-day tours — are non-refundable or need more notice, and this is shown on the listing before you pay. Reserve-now-pay-later bookings are charged 72 hours before the activity; cancel before that and nothing is charged. If the operator cancels, you are always refunded in full.

How the Deadline Works
The 24 hours are counted to the activity’s start time in its local time zone. The app and the booking page show a “Cancel for free until” date and time, converted for you. If you are close to the cutoff, cancel first and rebook afterwards. Cancellations must be made through GetYourGuide (app, website or support), not by emailing the operator.

Reserve Now, Pay Later
Many tours let you reserve without paying. Your card is charged 72 hours before the activity. Cancel before the charge and nothing is taken; after the charge, the product’s normal rule applies — for a 24-hour product that still leaves two days of free cancellation after being charged.
Refund Timing
Refunds go to the original payment method and typically appear within 3–10 business days depending on your bank. Cancellation confirmations arrive by email; keep them until the refund lands. If a refund has not appeared after ten business days, contact support with the booking reference.

Operator Cancellations and Weather
If the operator cancels — weather, minimum numbers, operational issues — you receive a full refund or an alternative date, regardless of the product’s policy. If the activity runs in poor weather and you choose not to go, that is your cancellation and the deadline applies.
How to Cancel
App: Bookings → select the booking → “Cancel booking” → confirm. Website: sign in → Bookings → booking → “Cancel”. If there is no cancel button, the deadline has passed or the product is non-refundable; contact the operator or GetYourGuide support to ask for goodwill — often granted for genuine emergencies, never guaranteed.

Is Viator Better for This?
The two policies are close: Viator’s Standard policy also gives a full refund up to 24 hours before on most tours, with the app showing a live countdown; Viator’s reserve-now-pay-later charges two days before rather than three. Where they differ is coverage: Viator has more operators outside Europe and, in our experience, a larger share of its catalogue on the free-cancellation policy (the Amsterdam tours above are all Standard). Compare: Viator vs GetYourGuide and Viator’s cancellation policy. Related: Is GetYourGuide legit?. Destinations: Amsterdam, Brussels, Copenhagen.
